A celebration of Brixham business took place yesterday, Tuesday 6th September, on Brixham Enterprise Day, at the Edge, Bolton Street.
The drop-in event was organised by local business start-up support programme, Outset Torbay. Local people who have benefitted from Outset’s free support to start their own business in the town came along to network with members of the community, councillors and partner organisations.
Despite the heavy downpours, 40 people attended the event to celebrate the Brixham’s entrepreneurial spirit. Advisors from Outset Torbay were on hand to talk to anyone in the town who wanted to find out about the free support, group workshops and one-to-one coaching to help local people to start their own businesses.
Irene Wilson, Outset advisor in Brixham says “We were delighted that so many people came to celebrate Brixham Enterprise Day with us. Since launching Outset Torbay in November 2010, we’ve had a fantastic response from local people interested in starting a sustainable business in the town. Over 40 people from Brixham have so far completed the Outset programme, with 9 businesses launched already. We’re looking forward to working with more people from the town to unlock the fantastic enterprise potential that exists”.
