Local enterprise events awarded badge of honour

Two events organised by local business start-up support programme, Outset Torbay to promote entrepreneurship in the bay have been awarded a special badge of honour from the organisers of Global Entrepreneurship Week to recognise its impact on building and inspiring the businesses of tomorrow.

Both aspiring entrepreneurs and members of the business community were encouraged to attend the free events on Tuesday 15th November, which took place during Global Entrepreneurship Week.

A special business start-up information event took place at The University Centre at South Devon College to introduce Outset’s free programme of workshops and one-to-one coaching for people keen to explore their options for self-employment.

The information event was followed by a lunchtime business start-up networking event for local members of the business community.

Over 50 entrepreneurial-minded people attended the lively event, which enabled start-up businesses to network and meet new contacts, over a complimentary lunch.

“Global Entrepreneurship Week is a spotlight on all the truly great enterprise support and entrepreneurial action that happens across the UK – all year round! We highlight the very best events by awarding them a ‘Badge of Honour’, promoting them to attendees and supporters and shouting about their achievements.” (Global Entrepreneur Week)

Outset Torbay will also host a special anniversary event during Global Entrepreneurship Week to mark the end of its successful first year, providing business start-up support across the Bay.

The invitation-only event at The Imperial Hotel, Torquay on Friday 18th November and will celebrate the achievements of the ERDF and Torbay Development Funded Programme.

Over 100 people are expected to attend the event, which will update delegates on the programme’s successes and showcase a selection of clients who have gone on to start their new businesses through Outset Torbay’s Intensive Start-up Support programme.
