Start-up businesses across Torbay are to be invited to a one-day conference that will bring together guest speakers, specialist business workshops, exhibition and networking opportunities.
The ‘Come fly with us’ event will take place on Tuesday 13 November, during South Devon Enterprise Week, at Parkfield Centre, Paignton, and is being organised by Outset Torbay, which will also be celebrating its second anniversary of providing free business start-up support in the Bay.
More than 100 delegates will hear from a programme of guest speakers including entrepreneur Nick Hurst, co-founder of renowned Devon-based Burts Chips, and be able to get expert advice in breakout workshops on specialist business topics such as social media and sales.
An exhibition of start-up businesses will also showcase some of the enterprises that have launched with help from the £1.8 European Regional Development Fund and Torbay Development Agency funded Outset Torbay programme.
Helen Harman, Programme Director for Outset Torbay says, “In two years of delivering business start-up support in the Bay, we have helped create 115 businesses and more than 130 jobs and we think that is cause for celebration. This special event will both celebrate and inspire our clients who have launched, or are in the process of launching new businesses. It’s vital that individuals are given the encouragement and skills to help them establish viable new enterprises that will help boost our local economy.”
